This 2-hour hands on class is designed specifically for novices with no prior knowledge of bartending or bar equipment. You'll get a thorough walk-through of the basic spirits, covering the essentials that any home bar must have, as well as an overview of the most versatile brands to consider at each price point. You'll be introduced to the essential tools of bartending, the proper techniques, and the preparation methods employed in specialty cocktail bars such as PDT. Once you know these basics, you'll be prepared to tackle any drink recipe, to experiment with your own original cocktails, and to plan cocktail parties like a pro. An ideal precursor to Elements of Mixology: The Cocktail Lab, this class delivers a completely unintimidating introduction to the world of spirits and mixology. Each student will also be given a complete bar tool set use throughout the class and to take home with them.
